Why They Need Our Support

One in every 50 people in India is affected by intellectual disability (ID) and 76% of our children with intellectual disability come from the lower economic strata. Due to financial constraints and social taboos, many of these children are abandoned, abused or simply ignored. With your support, Jai Vakeel Foundation is able to give these children and their families the help they desperately need to live a fulfilling life.

A Story of Growth and Confidence

Jaya, one of our most gentle and kind-hearted students, joined the primary section at Mira Primary School at the age of 12. In the beginning, she was quiet and unsure—but with constant support, love, and patience, she began to open up and grow in her own beautiful way.

Over time, Jaya found her rhythm. She discovered a deep love for music and dance, and started enjoying her studies as well. Her dedication and spirit led her to win first prize in an interschool singing competition organized by Balkalyan in 2023—a moment of great pride for all of us.

In 2024–25, she also appeared for the NIOS 1st level exam, taking another step forward in her learning journey.

A Story of Growth and Confidence

Mst. Sanib Saidul Moulik, 8 years old, was admitted to the pre-primary section of G.U. Shah Mira Vidyalaya, Matunga on 15th June 2024 with autism and intellectual disability, Sanib initially struggled to sit in class or connect with other children.

With the dedicated support of his special tutor, classroom teacher, and loving parents, Sanib gradually began to open up. He started interacting with peers, trying to follow instructions, and expressing his needs in small but meaningful ways.

The highlight of his journey so far was his joyful participation in the school annual function, where he dressed up as Hanuman—a moment that touched every heart.

Sanib’s story reflects the heart of what we believe at Pragati Kendra: every child, with the right support, has the power to grow, connect, and shine.
