We run varied programs for the holistic growth of our children
At Pragati Kendra, we seek to empower our students even after they leave school. This is why along with ‘Meera Vidyalaya’, we also have a special vocational training centre at Murlidhar Mandir, Sion. Students above 18 years are given training on varied subjects at this centre.
Meera Vidyalaya
A special school for special students
At present Meera Vidyalaya provides free education/training to near 45 students in the age group of 5 to 18 years and an I.Q. ranging from 30 to 70. An elaborate curriculum has been devised to develop different skills such as – motor skill, self- help skill, psycho-social skill, cognitive skill and communication skill. They also receive training in music, dance, yoga, drawing, handicrafts, elocution, dramatics and sports which helps their overall development. To develop all the above skills help is extended by a team of skilled doctors, vocational experts, psychologists, occupational therapists etc. We also provide nutritious food like milk, fruits, chikki, salads etc. in order to improve the health of our students.
Our Vocational Training Center
A special vocational training centre has been set up at Murlidhar Mandir, Sion. Students above 18 years are given training on – working on the flour mill to grind various special flours, and are also trained in embroidery, knitting, making artificial flowers, greeting cards, gift envelopes, handmade paper bags, liquid soap, phenyl etc. They also make Rakhis, Gudhis, Diyas, Torans etc. as per the festival. Our donors receive some of these products as a token for their support.

Our students are busy making miniature gudis for the festival of Gudi Padwa (Marathi New Year). You can support our students’ efforts by buying these lovely gudis! Keep them in your windows and celebrate the coming new year!

Our Schemes
Maitra
Maitra is a unique scheme whereby we want people to get more involved with our activities.A payment of Rs.1800/- will entitle the donor to get products worth Rs.300/- in every two months. The products will be delivered at a location of your choice.The choice of products will be from various flours, dry snacks, domestic disinfectants, liquid detergent, gift envelopes, gift folder sets, clutch bags etc. and as per season Gudhi, Rakhi, decorative diyas can also be provided.
Subhiksha
We provide mid day meals to all our children as most of our children come from economically backward families. Through Subhiksha, you can sponsor an entire day's meal for all the students of the school. Many individuals sponsor have sponsored a day's meal to celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries or in memory of their beloved ones through this program.
Muskaan
Our children come from economically backward classes. We provide them with bags, uniforms and nutritious snacks. We even provide a glass of milk and banana with protein powder to those who are weak. The expense per child is Rs.2500/- per year. Many have sponsored our children and the benefits have been obvious. We give the donors the details of their MUSKAAN child at the end of the academic year along with a copy of the annual progress report and his/her photograph.
